Musica Classicum
Classical Music is generally known as Academic Music and not to be confused with a "classic" piece of music. Academic music, typically has shied away from a connection with all things frivolous. I take a bit of a risk here in that I am sharing my talents in both Electronic and Classical venues and this is unheard of. I too am unheard of, and thus far unhear from, but I assure you, music is music and each of these types of music lends something to the other. Many a time, in the search for melody or a melodic framework, I have gone to electronic music to satisfy this. And equally as well, I have borrowed classical structure in order to achieve clarity in an electronic piece. Personally, I do not know what all the fuss is about.
Classical Orchestral Music is composed in a fairly rigid form. Symphonic works, like the ones below are written within a traditional format, that over the centuries, and despite modification to some extent, have come to be accepted as the appropriate form for these types of works. Generally, Symphonies fall into four and five movement forms. Although I adhere, to some extent, the format as described above, I do not feel it necessary to compromise the work to adhere to form. Mostly, you will find energized first movements, lyrical second movements, fast third movements, and grand fourth movements. The second symphony, the Esoteric, does not really attempt to follow this format. This music is written with a Symphonic Orchestra in mind. Each part is scored for a particular instrument, and the final written score is as much a part of the work as the performance. From the written score, the conductor can make choices and decisions in regard to the performance of the work.
Symphony No. 1 - The Argumentative The work is about the finding of peace within one's own life. The work is dramatic and extensive.
Symphony No. 2 - The Esoteric This work is based on the Choral Text of a Walt Whitman poem and depicts the soul's ascension to Heaven.
Symphony No. 3 - The Egotistical This work is based on the self's struggle with baser instincts and the struggle to overcome.
Symphony No. 4 - The Pastoral This is a work depicting the country life attempting to capture the sheer joy of life.
